Properties in Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Saint-Germain-en-Laye is a human-size town, located 20 km west of Paris (less than 30 minutes from central Paris by train), in the department of Yvelines. Saint-Germain-en-Laye has a very rich history, especially because it was royal city (with the presence of the Old Castle, always present, and a New Castle, now disappeared). She became a sought residential town, with a strong international population. Its 40,000 inhabitants are called the 'Saint-Germanois'.

Saint-Germain-en-Laye is appreciated for its high quality of life and for the richness of its heritage. Quality of life first of all, with 3,500 hectares of forest that make the lung of the Ile-de-France, with its sports facilities (many golf courses nearby, training center of the football club Paris Saint-Germain, more than twenty tennis courts, hockey pitches on grass, an Olympic swimming pool ...), with its 800 shops (most open on Sundays) and its open-air market 3 times a week, its theater, its international college attracting many expatriates, its multiple renowned schools, its music conservatory, its 5 cinemas, several social-cultural centers, one hundred associations ... Wealth of its heritage then, with a strong exceptional architecture of the Old Castle and its huge park with stunning views of Paris, with its many mansions and museums (museums Maurice Denis, Debussy, Archaeology).

With such advantages, the city raises more than ever the craze of wealthy families of the department as well as that expatriates are attracted by the International school. Add to this the Parisian families attracted by a better quality of life combined with slightly lower prices than those of the capital. This probably explains why prices remain supported in the ultra exclusive area of the Plateau (ultra center, within 15 minutes walk from the train station). Although the average tariff is set in the ancient square meter to € 5,100, the exceptional properties may cost more than 8,500 euros per square meter. Thus, a house of 180 sqm located Breuvery street, with garden and garage, sold 1.58 million Euros (€ 8,600/sqm). However, it should be noted that the buyers can currently be accommodated in the old with lots of work for less than 5500 euros per square meter in the city center. Regarding the areas of International High School and the sub-prefecture they sell at more reasonable prices, up to 5,000 euros per sqm.
